MIXED-USE HOSPITALITY
The prompt for this project was to reclaim an industrial old building shell and work within the existing footprint to create a thriving, multi-faceted new business appropriate to the young, revitalizing neighborhood in which it was situated in Washington, D.C. My task was to integrate a library with a demo kitchen, and I created Read, Eat, Drink as a conceptual space combining the idea of a Little Free Library (on a very large scale) with a warm, welcoming demonstration kitchen and restaurant
COMMERCIAL
This project focused on updating a large lobby space in an upscale office building in downtown Washington, D.C. with an incredible view of the Capitol. Given the modernity of the building and the patriotic nature of it's sight lines, I focused on streamlined, contemporary furnishings and finishes in classic colors. The monochromatic, textural stone on the walls and floors and the shower of light from the from the custom chandelier created a sense of restrained luxury appropriate to the surroundings
